Rojo Tabú

"Rojo Tabú" is a community dance project that unfolded over a two-week residence and was showcased at La Cuina - Francesca Bonnemaison in Barcelona. Using the language of dance-theater, we explored the reclamation of our menstrual cycles without words, challenging societal taboos. Our emphasis was on inclusivity, particularly highlighting the experiences of non-binary and gender-transitioning individuals.

"Novas Singularitats" is a video mapping dance production by Ana Maria Leitao and Luiz Fernando Bongiovanni, featuring visuals by Telenoika and Darklight Studio. Amid COVID-19, it united five dancers from Catalonia and Brazil across 8792 km. The show blends Sao Paulo and Catalan dancers with visual mapping, exploring themes of singularity. It celebrates the unique qualities of each human, focusing on singular movement in dance, inviting audiences to appreciate this valuable mode of expression and what makes each person truly unique.

Project funded by the Iberescena Program.

NOVAS SINGULARITATS

¿Qual o Peso da Saudade?

Ana Leitão created with the Municipal Ballet of Taubaté, questions the definition (or definitions?) of the word saudade. Thus through metaphors questions were asked: - What if saudade had form? - And if saudade was matter?, choreographer and dancers mapped out "What is the weight of saudade?

This is a map-performance, made up of multiple visions, lives and personal and universal micro-stories, which take the spectator through a word that besides a feeling is: image, song, poem, word, instant, breath, but above all gesture and sensations in movement.

O Grande Circo Mistico

Recreating the Brazilian ballet - "O Grande Circo Mistico", in a co-creation with the Orchestral Conducting of São Paulo, soloists from the Municipal Ballet of Taubaté, and students from the Callegari School of Dance in São Paulo. In this performance, "O Grande Circo Mistico" was meticulously portrayed as a rhizome, where professional artists, those in the process of professionalization, and non-professionals shared the stage. Dance, theater, and orchestrated music intertwined to form a space where everyone became characters, audience, and scenery.

EL Balero de Raquel

"El BALERO DE RAQUEL" is a community videodance piece that uses the balero, a traditional toy consisting of a ball and cord, and Ravel's Bolero, known for its constant rhythmic theme. Co-created with residents of local residences, it metaphorizes the need to fit in for people with functional diversity. It merges movement, music, and visual art to address the challenges of social integration. The cup and ball reflect the journey of acceptance in a demanding world. This work is a metaphor for the struggle for balance in a demanding society, reminding us of the importance of inclusivity and empathy.

Rebomboris

The project is a collaborative stage proposal that takes as a starting point and reference material an extensive network of shared care and mutual support between women that already existed in the neighborhood and that recover in their research the historians Isabel Segura and Milagros Rivera. Exploring networks that have been reconfigured to take the pulse of care in today's societies. We were inspired by the concept of "riots", spontaneous movements of revolt through which women have struggled to sustain their lives and to demand the material conditions of existence for themselves and their communities over time.

AMAZONAS

TEDxBarcelonaWomen

"AMAZONAS" is a provocative dance piece that delves into the depths of collective feminine power, sisterhood, and connection through movement. Five women, each with distinct dance origins and backgrounds, come together in a performance that celebrates diversity and shared listening, a dialogue among bodies.

In this piece, we invite the audience to witness not just a performance, but rather a manifesto of sisterhood and a celebration of diversity that strengthens and inspires.
